This is Why I <i>love</i> “Grand Theft Auto IV”
Ran across this gem of a fake-website while surfing the fake-web playing GTAIV - The Lost & Damned.
There are some feminists on the development team, I know it.
In a description for the fake-men’s magazine, “Bandit!”, the site reads:
“It’s male consumption and conquest in America’s best-selling men’s lifestyle magazine! Bandit! - the ultimate men’s lifestyle brand expert and guide to overpriced clothes and how to bag and bang babes with nothing more than a smirk, dark sunglasses, five o’clock shadow and finely waxed eyebrows. Masturbate over barely legal brainless celebrities! Metrosexuality and misogyny - Bandit! Magazine is for the man who knows the difference! It’s a celebration of confused modern manhood. We teach young men that it’s okay to wax their balloon knot, pluck their eyebrows and frost their hair so long as they assert their virility by binge drinking and objectifying women. Bandit! blends fashion and personal grooming advice with just enough cars, gadgets and broads in bkinis to reassure you that you’re still a red-blooded alpha male. Too bad Rockstar’s tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and social commentary is limited to mostly optionally-read/heard segments of their games…

I’m remiss for not listing my video game gifts!
Whoops. Here ‘goes:
1) Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
I’ve never downloaded the DLC, so this gift couldn’t have come at a better time. And it’s on a disc, so my boyfriend (who bought me the present) is looking forward to borrowing it. (Actually, we’ll probably be doing a massive game-borrowing switcheroo in a few months. Christmas is awesome that way.)
I also just found out that there’s full-frontal male nudity (link is sfw, don’t worry!) in “The Lost and Damned.” Is this a first for American mainstream video games?
2) DJ Hero
I feel foolishly cool when playing this. I wouldn’t in my wildest dreams claim to really be cool, though. The illusion shall suffice.
(The Gorillaz/Marvin Gaye mashup is the SHIZNIT, btw… *ahem.*)
3) Rock Revolution
Hey. Don’t knock it. I got a 1600 Microsoft Points card and all the Lego Rockband songs as payment for playing this. Heh. Thank you, Chris. ^_^
4) Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince (for PC)
More creativity points for Mister Chris~ Gonna go install this soon. Got the movie on DVD too, I haven’t seen it yet — I know, blasphemy.
